2006 A4 Avant quattro 3.2 FSI, with a 6-speed manual. 124k miles. On one of the spooky car lots on Highway 99, for $7,999.
Price is set right at the recommended KBB price from a dealer (which means nothing, but still).
... I’m pretty sure this is a bad idea. Especially if the timing chain hasn’t been tended to on these, at least according to the interwebs.

100% bad idea without service records and a warranty. Even then it would still be mostly a bad idea.

So bad that someone here will give it a thought and buy it

out of warranty VAG product is never a good decision.

Imagine this: it got there because someone traded it in at I5 toyota for $1,200 for a 2017 Highlander. They inspected it for a $5,000 flip and determined it needed $8,000 worth of work to come up to I5 Toyota’s lousy standards. Sold at auction for $1700 to this by here pay here lot in a used to be low rent district.

Buy it. I’m not saying it’s a good idea, but you should buy it regardless.

Don’t think, just get it! I have the exact same car, but with the auto, because you have no idea how hard it was to find a 3.2 Avant with the 6 speed. But that 6 speed is butter (I drove a sedan with it) and will make you forget about everything else. And the 3.2 timing chain tensioner issues aren’t really as bad as they’re cracked up to be, it’s been a really reliable engine for me and I’ve had it from 96k to 155k miles so far. Just do your oil changes fairly often with 0 weight and it seems to help stave off some of the carbon buildup problems. While I haven’t personally done this yet, the 3.2 sounds amazing with an exhaust too...

At least you’d have more oppo content. You could have a weekly “what I’m fixing this week” post.

I have the exact same car but in sedan flavor. The engine is so smooth and the 6 speed is very nicely matched. I haven’t had any major issues in 70k miles, it’s been a great and noble steed. If I were you I’d snatch it up in a second with that gooey wagonness going on. Total NP.

That car has been wrecked quite badly. Bumpers don’t match the rest of the body. Body gaps, particularly at the bumpers and hood, are comical. And remember, body gaps are an indicator of structural integrity. Paint probably looks like it was done in a gravel parking lot on a windy day. Probably missing a few minor brackets and screws here and there. Probably still has a fair amount of damaged components. The headaches this car will cause it’s next owner will never stop.

Oh wow. V6 manual wagon? Do it!
But do it in Winter so you’ll have something to keep you warm when you’re homeless.

Looks like its had some body work, based off the poor bumper fitment..

Based on my knowledge of the BHPH model, I don’t see how they could actually come out ahead on this unless they get a “down payment” greater than the value of the car.
They make most of their money on getting cheap reliable cars, refurbishing them, then keeping them running through a bunch of trade cycles. Most of the customers are bad credit risks for a reason, so the target is to be able to recover them and put them back in the fleet...
